Who Are Colonna Coffee?
Their roots go back to Bath wherein 2009 owners Maxwell and Lesley opened their first coffee shop. This grew and in 2015 they launched their roastery with a passion for the entire process and all things coffee.
Their website sells an impressive array of products, from limited-edition capsules (always of single-origin) to rare beans from around the globe. The accessories they sell includes everything from grinders, scales, clothing, to machines.
It doesn’t take long to realise that Colonna Coffee has a real passion for flavour and believe in quality beans and the science behind making the perfect cup of coffee.

How Does A Colonna Coffee Subscription Work?
The two main options for a Colonna Coffee subscription are for beans or capsules. These both ensure quality products through the door every month.
The beans can be made for espresso or filter and there is an impressive range of products with a Rare range, Gesha range, Discovery beans range, and Foundation beans.
After selecting the product you wish to receive, it is now down to customisation. This is where customers can select the roast type, and the quantity of bags they wish to receive. Then, it is all about the frequency. This can be changed between 1, 2, 3, and 4 weekly deliveries.
There is a similar approach for a Colonna Coffee pod subscription. The options are for espresso or lungo and the box of capsules contains 10. Adjusting the number of boxes is easy, as is the frequency.
For pods, customers can choose to receive their order every 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. Pods are compatible with Nespresso machines.
How Is Their Coffee?
This is the most important question, but let’s just say, there is a reason why they are often known as innovators.
There is so much character in each sip as they only use high-quality beans. Even the pods have a pleasant crema and a strong aroma to match the taste. It does depend on which variant you go for, but we’ve never been disappointed.
The rare range feels more luxe and you can tell that this is an elite coffee that has the taste of those small artisan coffee shops rather than the big chains that often taste burnt.
We would recommend the coffee to anyone who likes to delve a little deeper and puts taste over price. There is an emphasis on the temperature, brewing method, and grind but if you don’t have all the equipment needed then the pods are easy to use.
There is less guesswork and you end up with an espresso (or lungo) that other pods just don’t seem to be able to replicate. It’s safe to say the quality is impressive.
Subscription Calendar
These are artisan coffees so don’t expect them to hang around forever. Part of the real strength of Colonna Coffee is that it regularly updates the beans and pods that are available. There is even a coming soon section with products being updated in each range.
How Long Does A Subscription Last?
A Colonna coffee subscription lasts as long as the customer wishes it to. There is no fixed subscription unless signing up for an offer where you get a free machine, then the commitment will be 12 months.
It is also possible to amend the frequency for anyone who finds that they are not using all the coffee before the net delivery arrives, or are running out too quickly.
Otherwise, there are free taster samples included at times, as well as compostable capsule options.
How Much Is Colonna Coffee Delivery?
For orders over £20, there is free shipping to the UK mainland. There are tracked options available, but these cost more.
Deliveries are flexible to suit the customer so it is a coffee subscription box for those who want coffee at their convenience.
